John Evans (footballer, born 1932)
John Evans (born 19 October 1932) is a Welsh former professional footballer. He played as a centre-half.
Evans began his career with West Bromwich Albion, joining them in 1952. He made his debut in 1954 and went on to play over 200 league games for the club. He was a key member of the West Bromwich Albion team that won the FA Cup in 1954, defeating Preston North End 3-2 in the final.
In 1960, Evans moved to Crystal Palace. He spent several seasons at Selhurst Park, becoming a popular figure with the fans. He helped the team secure promotion to the Third Division in 1961.
Evans also represented Wales at international level. He earned several caps for his country, including appearances in World Cup qualifying matches. He was known for his strong tackling, aerial ability, and leadership qualities.
After retiring from professional football, Evans remained involved in the sport at a local level. His contribution to West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace is remembered fondly by supporters of both clubs.
