Mithu Sen

Mithu Sen is an Indian contemporary artist known for her interdisciplinary practice encompassing drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, and performance art. Her work often explores themes of marginalization, the body, language, and communication, particularly focusing on the experiences of those on the periphery of society.

Sen was born in West Bengal, India. She studied at the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, and later at the Glasgow School of Art, Scotland.

Her art is recognized for its raw emotionality and its use of diverse materials and techniques. Sen frequently incorporates elements of poetry and storytelling into her visual works, creating a layered and complex narrative. She challenges conventional notions of beauty and embraces imperfection as a means of revealing deeper truths about human existence.
