Ministry of Development (Peru)

The Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Spanish: Ministerio de Desarrollo e Inclusión Social, MIDIS) is a government ministry of Peru responsible for formulating, coordinating, executing, and supervising national policies and strategies related to social development and inclusion. Its primary objective is to improve the living conditions of vulnerable populations and reduce poverty in Peru.

MIDIS focuses on a range of social programs and initiatives designed to address various aspects of poverty, including food security, access to education and healthcare, employment opportunities, and social protection. Key programs under its administration often include conditional cash transfer programs, food assistance initiatives, and programs aimed at improving early childhood development.

The Ministry works in coordination with other government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and international organizations to achieve its goals. It also conducts research and analysis to inform its policies and strategies. The Minister of Development and Social Inclusion is appointed by the President of Peru and is a member of the Cabinet.

The specific responsibilities and focus areas of MIDIS may evolve over time depending on the priorities of the government and the changing needs of the Peruvian population. However, its core mission remains centered on promoting social inclusion and reducing poverty through targeted interventions and policy coordination.
