Milk and Honey (album)
Milk and Honey is a posthumous album released in 1984 by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, containing tracks recorded during and after the sessions for their 1980 album, Double Fantasy. It was the final studio album featuring new material from Lennon until the release of Anthology in 1998.
The album follows the same structure as Double Fantasy, alternating between Lennon's and Ono's compositions. Lennon's tracks are generally considered to be more directly personal and reflective than some of his earlier work, dealing with themes of love, domesticity, and reflection on his life. Ono's contributions cover a range of topics including feminism, environmentalism, and personal expression.
Milk and Honey was compiled and released after Lennon's death in December 1980. The album includes unfinished songs and outtakes, providing a glimpse into Lennon's creative process. Some tracks feature more raw and less polished production compared to the carefully crafted Double Fantasy.
Notable songs on the album include Lennon's "Nobody Told Me," a song released as a single and became a top ten hit, and "Borrowed Time," which explores the theme of mortality. Ono's contributions include "Let Me Count the Ways" and "Sleepless Night."
The album reached the top ten in both the United States and the United Kingdom upon its release, solidifying its place in Lennon's discography and offering fans a final collection of new songs from the artist.
