Menaka (1955 film)

Menaka is a 1955 Indian Tamil-language film directed by R.M. Krishnaswamy. The film stars T. R. Mahalingam and Lalitha in the lead roles. It revolves around the mythological celestial nymph, Menaka, and her interactions with the sage Vishwamitra. The story depicts Menaka being sent by Indra, the king of gods, to break Vishwamitra's intense penance and prevent him from acquiring too much power. She successfully seduces him, resulting in the birth of Shakuntala. The film explores themes of love, duty, temptation, and the consequences of interfering with destiny.
