Max Bock (general)

Max Bock (15 October 1878 – 19 October 1945) was a German general during World War II. He served primarily on the Eastern Front.

Bock entered the Prussian Army in 1898 as an officer cadet. During World War I, he served as a staff officer. After the war, he continued his military career in the Reichswehr and later the Wehrmacht.

During World War II, Bock commanded various formations, including the 26th Infantry Division. He was involved in operations on the Eastern Front, including the invasion of the Soviet Union. He rose to the rank of General der Infanterie.

Bock was taken prisoner by Soviet forces in 1945 and died in captivity later that year. He was not known for significant strategic innovation or independent command, generally being assigned to operational-level roles within larger armies.
