Nora (band)
Nora was an American metalcore band from Highland Park, New Jersey, active from 1997 to 2007, and briefly reunited in 2016. The band was known for its aggressive sound, incorporating elements of hardcore punk, metal, and sludge metal. They were particularly recognized for their intense live performances and complex lyrical themes often dealing with personal struggles and societal issues.
Nora's lineup shifted throughout their career, but notable members included vocalist Carl Severson, guitarists Mike Olender and Matt Kupstas, bassist Steve "SteveO" Decker, and drummers Bill Dill and Pat Robertson. The band released several albums and EPs, including "The Knife Injected Nightmare" (2001), "Dreamers and Deadmen" (2003), and "Save Yourself" (2004). They toured extensively both domestically and internationally, sharing the stage with many prominent bands in the metalcore and hardcore scenes.
While never achieving mainstream commercial success, Nora cultivated a dedicated following and are considered influential within the metalcore genre for their raw intensity and unique sound. Following their initial breakup in 2007, former members pursued various other musical projects.
