The Silencers (comics)

The Silencers were a short-lived comic book series published by DC Comics under their Milestone Comics imprint. Created by Dwayne McDuffie, Ivan Velez Jr., and Denys Cowan, the series ran for 26 issues from 1992 to 1995.

The Silencers focused on a covert organization operating in Dakota City, the fictional setting for Milestone Comics. Unlike the more publicly active heroes such as Static and Icon, the Silencers worked in the shadows, dealing with threats deemed too sensitive or dangerous for conventional law enforcement. Their missions often involved espionage, sabotage, and assassination.

The team was led by a mysterious figure known only as Hush. Other prominent members included Fade, a master of disguise and infiltration; Sideshow, a highly skilled acrobat and martial artist; and Krunch, a powerhouse with super strength and durability.

The Silencers storylines often explored themes of government corruption, corporate greed, and the ethical dilemmas faced by those who operate outside the law. The series was notable for its gritty realism and complex characters, and for its exploration of the darker side of the superhero world. Although the series was cancelled before its creators intended, it has gained a cult following for its unique perspective and contribution to the Milestone Universe.
