Matt Tees
Matt Tees (born August 17, 1939, Grangemouth, Scotland; died September 14, 2020) was a Scottish professional footballer.
Tees primarily played as a centre-forward. He began his senior career with Airdrieonians in 1959, where he quickly established himself as a prolific goalscorer. He then moved to East Stirlingshire, further showcasing his scoring ability.
Tees' most notable spell was with Grimsby Town, which he joined in 1966. He became a legendary figure at the club, scoring a significant number of goals and being instrumental in their promotion campaigns. He formed a formidable partnership with strike partner Ray Fordham. His goals helped Grimsby Town achieve promotion to the Second Division in 1969.
After leaving Grimsby Town, Tees played for York City and Boston United. He retired from professional football in the mid-1970s.
Following his playing career, Tees remained involved in football, often working in various coaching and scouting roles. He is remembered as one of Grimsby Town's greatest-ever players.
