Mathias Johansson (ice hockey)
Mathias Johansson is a Swedish former professional ice hockey player. He primarily played as a defenseman.
Johansson played the majority of his career in Sweden, primarily in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL, formerly Elitserien). He skated for several SHL teams, including HV71, Färjestad BK, and Södertälje SK. Known for his defensive reliability and leadership qualities, Johansson often served as a captain or alternate captain for his teams.
While Johansson was a consistent player in the SHL, he was not a highly offensive defenseman. His contributions were more heavily weighted towards his defensive play, shot blocking, and physical presence on the ice.
Internationally, Johansson represented Sweden in several tournaments, including the IIHF World Championships. His experience and defensive skills were valuable assets to the Swedish national team.
After retiring from professional hockey, Johansson has remained involved in the sport in various capacities.
