Mario Romero (Nicaraguan boxer)
Mario Romero (born January 16, 1973) is a Nicaraguan former professional boxer. He competed primarily in the super bantamweight division.
Romero is perhaps best known for his upset victory over former world champion Kennedy McKinney in 1996. He captured the WBA Fedelatin Super Bantamweight title with that win. He challenged unsuccessfully for world titles on several occasions, including bouts against Junior Jones for the WBA Super Bantamweight title and against Nestor Garza for the WBC Super Bantamweight title. While never capturing a major world title, Romero remained a competitive fighter throughout his career, often facing top-level opponents.
