MVP Arena
MVP Arena (originally Knickerbocker Arena, then Pepsi Arena, then Times Union Center) is an indoor arena located in Albany, New York. It serves as a multi-purpose venue, hosting sporting events, concerts, conventions, and other entertainment.
Originally opened in 1990, the arena seats approximately 17,500 for basketball and up to 13,500 for hockey. It has served as the home of various sports teams, including the Albany River Rats (American Hockey League), the Albany Conquest/Firebirds (Arena Football League), and the Siena College Saints men's basketball team. It has also hosted NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament games.
The arena has undergone several name changes throughout its history due to sponsorship agreements. In August 2022, it was officially renamed MVP Arena as part of a partnership with MVP Health Care.
MVP Arena is owned by Albany County and managed by ASM Global. It plays a significant role in the Albany Capital Center district, contributing to the region's economy and providing a space for a wide range of events.
