Luis Rivera (athlete)

Luis Rivera Morales (born May 9, 1986) is a Mexican track and field athlete specializing in the high jump. He is a two-time Olympian, representing Mexico at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Rivera achieved considerable success early in his career, winning the gold medal at the 2005 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships. He further established himself as a prominent high jumper by winning the bronze medal at the 2009 Central American and Caribbean Championships.

His most significant achievement to date is winning the bronze medal at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics held in Moscow. This marked a historic moment for Mexican athletics, as it was the first medal for Mexico in a jumping event at the World Championships. Rivera cleared a height of 2.33 meters to secure his podium finish.

Throughout his career, Rivera has also represented Mexico at numerous other international competitions, including the Pan American Games and the IAAF World Indoor Championships. He is the Mexican national record holder in the high jump with a personal best of 2.30 meters outdoors and 2.31 meters indoors. He continues to compete and inspire athletes in Mexico.
