Warwick Records (United States)
Warwick Records was a small, independent record label based in the United States, primarily active in the late 1950s and early 1960s. While not a major player in the recording industry, Warwick Records is notable for releasing a small number of hit songs and featuring artists who later achieved greater fame on other labels. The label's output covered various genres, including pop, rock and roll, and R&B. It was based in New York City.
Warwick Records achieved its biggest success with the song "Hey Paula" by Paul & Paula, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1963. Other artists who recorded for Warwick Records included The Shirelles (before their success on Scepter Records) and Dion DiMucci (initially as a solo artist after the break-up of Dion & The Belmonts, before his later success on Laurie Records). The label's lifespan was relatively short, and it eventually ceased operations sometime in the mid-1960s. Its catalog is now largely owned and managed by other music companies.
