Busabok
Busabok (Korean: 부사복; Hanja: 副司僕) was a minor official position within the Joseon Dynasty of Korea. The term refers to a subordinate officer within the Sipoksi (사복시; 司僕寺). The Sipoksi was a government agency responsible for the royal stables, carriages, and the management of horses used by the royal family and government officials.
A Busabok's duties generally involved assisting the higher-ranking officials within the Sipoksi in managing the daily operations of the royal stables. This included tasks such as overseeing the care and feeding of horses, maintaining the carriages, and ensuring the proper upkeep of the facilities. The position was of a relatively low rank and typically held by individuals who were gaining experience in government service before potentially moving on to more significant roles. The Busabok was part of the larger bureaucratic structure designed to support the Joseon court and its equestrian needs. The number of Busabok officials varied depending on the needs of the Sipoksi at any given time.
