Little Heroes (band)
Little Heroes were an Australian rock band formed in Melbourne in 1979. The band was initially known for their energetic, new wave-influenced sound and theatrical performances.
History
The band's core members were Roger Hart (vocals, guitar), Rick Elelman (bass, vocals), and Tony Holmes (drums). They gained popularity on the Melbourne pub circuit before signing with EMI Records in 1981.
Little Heroes released their debut album, Play by Numbers, in 1982, which spawned the singles "One Perfect Day" and "Young and Innocent." The album was commercially successful in Australia and established the band as a significant act.
Their second album, Watch the World, was released in 1983. While not as commercially successful as their debut, it further showcased their songwriting abilities and musical versatility.
The band continued to tour and perform throughout the 1980s, but ultimately disbanded in the late 1980s.
Musical Style and Influences
Little Heroes blended elements of new wave, rock, and pop music. Their sound was characterized by catchy melodies, driving rhythms, and Roger Hart's distinctive vocals. They were influenced by bands such as The Police, Elvis Costello, and XTC.
