Čachrov

Čachrov is a municipality and village in the Plzeň Region of the Czech Republic. It is located in the Klatovy District, approximately 13 kilometers southeast of Klatovy. The municipality covers an area of 65.29 square kilometers and, as of 2023, has a population of approximately 500 residents.

Čachrov and its surrounding areas are situated in the Bohemian Forest (Šumava) foothills. The region is known for its natural beauty, including forests and rolling hills, making it popular for hiking and recreation.

Historically, Čachrov has been a predominantly agricultural area. It also has a history of mining, specifically iron ore, though this is no longer a significant economic activity. The village features some preserved historical architecture, including a church and several traditional farmhouses. Tourism, primarily focused on nature and outdoor activities, plays an increasing role in the local economy.

The municipality includes several smaller villages and hamlets, forming a larger administrative unit. Local administration is responsible for providing essential services such as education, infrastructure maintenance, and cultural events.
