List of Big East Conference (1979–2013) football standings

The Big East Conference, officially known as the Big East Conference Football Conference from 1979 to 2013, was a Division I FBS (formerly Division I-A) college football conference. This page documents the year-by-year standings of the conference's member teams during its existence. The conference was formed in 1979, but did not sponsor football until 1991. Prior to that year, the institutions that would form the core of the football conference competed as independents or in other leagues for football.

The standings typically reflect the regular season conference record of each team, and are used to determine the conference champion. Tiebreakers, when necessary, were applied according to conference rules and are reflected in the final standings.

Standings generally include the team name, overall record (wins-losses-ties), and conference record (wins-losses). Other data presented may include points scored, points allowed, and other relevant statistics. These standings are a historical record of the performance of member institutions during this specific period of the conference's existence.

The conference underwent significant changes in its membership and structure throughout its history. In 2013, the football-playing members of the Big East split from the basketball-centric schools, resulting in the formation of the American Athletic Conference (The American) and the reformation of the Big East Conference as a non-football conference. The records found here pertain only to the period before this split, when the conference sponsored football.
