Joseph Byrne (Australian politician)
Joseph Byrne (1881 – 1967) was an Australian politician who served as a Labor Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1931 to 1967.
Byrne was born in Hay, New South Wales. Before entering politics, he worked as a shearer and a union official. He was actively involved in the Australian Workers' Union (AWU) throughout his career.
He was appointed to the Legislative Council in 1931 and remained a member until his death in 1967. During his time in parliament, Byrne was a consistent advocate for the rights of working-class people and rural communities. He participated in numerous debates and committees, contributing to legislation on issues such as industrial relations, land reform, and rural development.
