Hadley (non-profit organization)

Hadley, also known as Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired, is a non-profit organization based in Winnetka, Illinois, that provides distance education programs to people who are blind or visually impaired, as well as their families and professionals. Hadley's mission is to empower adults who are blind or visually impaired to thrive – at home, at work and in their communities.

Founded in 1920 by William A. Hadley, a teacher who lost his sight later in life, the organization initially focused on correspondence courses. It offered these courses free of charge, a practice that continues to this day.

Hadley offers a wide range of programs, including high school completion, college preparation, independent living skills, and family education. These programs are delivered primarily through distance education methods, including Braille, large print, audio, and online formats.

Hadley's programs are designed to be accessible and affordable, removing barriers to education for individuals with visual impairments around the world. They offer courses in English and Spanish. Hadley receives funding from a variety of sources, including individual donors, foundations, and corporations.
