Originally a parliamentary borough returning two MPs, Liskeard was reduced to one MP under the Reform Act 1832. The constituency underwent boundary changes under the Redistribution of Seats Act 1885, becoming a county division. It was abolished for the 2010 general election when it was largely replaced by the new South East Cornwall constituency.
