Li Mao (footballer)
Li Mao (born January 15, 1978) is a retired Chinese football player who primarily played as a defender.
Career
Li Mao began his football career with Bayi Football Team, a club associated with the People's Liberation Army. With Bayi, he established himself as a reliable defender. When Bayi disbanded in 2003, Li Mao joined Shanghai Shenhua, a prominent club in the Chinese Super League. He spent several seasons with Shanghai Shenhua, contributing to their defensive stability. After his time at Shanghai Shenhua, he played for other Chinese football clubs, including Chengdu Blades and Shenzhen Ruby. He eventually retired from professional football.
Playing Style
Li Mao was known for his strong tackling ability, aerial prowess, and positional awareness. He was a physically imposing defender who was difficult for opposing forwards to get past. He also possessed good leadership qualities, often organizing the defensive line and providing tactical guidance.
