Les Cain

Les Cain is a British academic specializing in machine learning and artificial intelligence. He is a professor at the University of Edinburgh's School of Informatics. His research interests include approximate Bayesian inference, Gaussian processes, and neural networks. He is known for his work on Expectation Propagation (EP), a method for approximate Bayesian inference. Cain has also contributed to research in areas such as reinforcement learning and computational neuroscience. He has published extensively in leading machine learning journals and conferences.
