Laodicea (Mesopotamia)

Laodicea was not located in Mesopotamia. The city of Laodicea is most famously associated with Laodicea on the Lycus, located in modern-day Turkey, a significant city in the Roman province of Asia. There is no known historical record of a city named Laodicea in Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq, Kuwait, parts of Syria and Turkey). Therefore, any information suggesting a Mesopotamian Laodicea is inaccurate. The confusion likely stems from the prevalence of numerous cities founded by Seleucid rulers bearing the name Laodicea, often named after various queens.
