Kyo (musician)

Kyo is a Japanese musician best known as the vocalist of the influential visual kei band Dir en grey. He is also the vocalist for the supergroup Sukekiyo.

Born on February 16, 1976, in Kyoto, Japan, Kyo began his musical career in the early 1990s with the band La:Sadie's, which disbanded in 1997. He then co-founded Dir en grey with Kaoru, Die, Toshiya, and Shinya.

Kyo is recognized for his wide vocal range, guttural screams, and theatrical stage presence. He is also known for his poetic and often dark or disturbing lyrics, which explore themes such as pain, trauma, and societal issues.

Beyond Dir en grey, Kyo formed the solo project Sukekiyo in 2013. Sukekiyo explores a more experimental and atmospheric soundscape compared to Dir en grey's heavier metal-influenced style. Kyo is heavily involved in the artistic direction of both projects, including visual elements, album artwork, and stage production.
