Alan Clark (keyboardist)
Alan Clark (born 5 March 1952, Durham, England) is a British keyboardist, best known for his work with the rock band Dire Straits from 1980 to 1995.
Clark joined Dire Straits during the Making Movies sessions, initially hired as a session musician. He quickly became a full member of the band, contributing significantly to their subsequent albums and tours. His keyboard work became an integral part of the band's signature sound, adding textures and melodic lines that complemented Mark Knopfler's guitar playing.
Beyond his work with Dire Straits, Clark has also worked as a session musician for other artists, contributing to various albums across different genres. After the dissolution of Dire Straits in the mid-1990s, he continued to work on various musical projects, including soundtrack work. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Dire Straits in 2018.
