Kujalleq

Kujalleq is the southernmost municipality of Greenland. Established in 2009, it is one of four municipalities in the country. The municipality's name, Kujalleq, means "southern" in the Kalaallisut (Greenlandic) language.

The administrative center is Qaqortoq (formerly Julianehåb), the largest town in southern Greenland. Other settlements within Kujalleq include Nanortalik, Narsaq, and Alluitsup Paa.

Kujalleq is notable for its agriculture, relatively mild climate compared to other parts of Greenland, and UNESCO World Heritage site of Kujataa, a subarctic farming landscape that bears witness to the cultural histories of the Norse and Inuit peoples who have inhabited the region. The economy relies on fishing, sheep farming, tourism, and services.

The municipality faces challenges common to Greenland, including a sparse population spread across a large geographic area, limited infrastructure, and climate change impacts.
