Kosmos 23
Kosmos 23 was a Soviet satellite launched as part of the Kosmos program. Launched on December 19, 1963, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome Site 1/5, it was carried into orbit by a Vostok-2 carrier rocket.
The primary purpose of Kosmos 23 was to conduct radiation research in space. As part of this research, it investigated the Van Allen radiation belts and the effects of radiation on spacecraft components. The mission aimed to improve understanding of the space environment and enhance the reliability of future space missions.
The satellite operated in low Earth orbit and transmitted data back to ground stations for analysis. It re-entered the Earth's atmosphere and decayed on January 28, 1964.
