William Sykes (cricketer)
William Sykes (born 1855, date of death unknown) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire between 1878 and 1881.
Sykes was born in Hollingwood, Derbyshire. He made his debut for Derbyshire in the 1878 season against Lancashire, scoring a duck in the first innings and 2 in the second. He played four matches in the season. In the 1879 season, he played four further matches and made his top score of 36 against Hampshire. He played two matches in the 1880 season and one in the 1881 season.
Sykes was a right-handed batsman and played 11 innings in seven first-class matches with an average of 6.00 and a top score of 36. He was a right-arm medium-pace bowler but did not take any first-class wickets.
