Victory Bridge (New Jersey)
Victory Bridge is a bridge spanning the Raritan River between Perth Amboy and Sayreville, New Jersey, United States. It carries Route 35, connecting Middlesex and Monmouth counties. The current bridge, a high-level fixed span, was completed in 1926 and replaced an earlier swing bridge at the same location.
The bridge derives its name from World War I, commemorating the Allied victory. It was intended as a symbol of progress and connectivity following the war.
The bridge has undergone several rehabilitation projects over the years to maintain its structural integrity and accommodate increasing traffic volume. Its strategic location makes it a crucial transportation link in the region, connecting the Jersey Shore with more inland areas.
While locally known as Victory Bridge, it is officially designated as part of Route 35 by the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
