Kingmambo
Kingmambo (1990 – 2016) was an American-bred, French-trained Thoroughbred racehorse known for his exceptional speed and precocity as a two-year-old, and later for his influence as a stallion. Bred by Flaxman Holdings Ltd., he was sired by Mr. Prospector out of the mare Miesque, a multiple Group 1-winning champion.
Kingmambo was trained by André Fabre. On the racetrack, his notable victories included the Poule d'Essai des Poulains (French 2000 Guineas), the St. James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, and the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp. He was retired to stud after his three-year-old season.
As a stallion, Kingmambo stood at stud at Lane's End Farm in Kentucky. He became a highly successful sire of Group 1 winners, producing notable offspring such as El Condor Pasa, Henrythenavigator, Divine Proportions, Russian Rhythm, and Camelot. His progeny were known for their versatility, excelling on both turf and dirt surfaces at a variety of distances. Kingmambo's influence extended beyond his immediate offspring, as he became a significant broodmare sire, further cementing his legacy in Thoroughbred breeding. He died in 2016 at the age of 26.
