Luo Xian
Luo Xian was a general of the Shu Han state during the Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history.
Luo Xian's career highlights include his defense of Yong'an (present-day Fengjie County, Chongqing) against the forces of Wu after the death of Liu Bei. Following Liu Bei's defeat at the Battle of Xiaoting, Wu forces under Lu Xun sought to capitalize and invade Shu Han. Luo Xian, then serving as the Administrator of Badong Commandery, was entrusted with the defense of Yong'an, a strategically crucial location. He successfully withstood the Wu siege, contributing significantly to the cessation of hostilities between the two states and the eventual restoration of their alliance.
Accounts suggest that Luo Xian was known for his strategic acumen and strong leadership abilities. He was able to inspire confidence in his troops and the local populace, enabling them to withstand a prolonged siege. His efforts in Yong'an are generally credited with preventing a complete collapse of the Shu Han state in the aftermath of Xiaoting.
While historical records on Luo Xian are relatively limited, his role in stabilizing the Shu Han state after a major defeat is generally recognized. He served under Zhuge Liang and continued to hold important positions within the Shu Han administration until his death.
