Stephen Elliott (author)

Stephen Elliott (born 1971) is an American writer, editor, and filmmaker. He is known for his autobiographical essays and novels, which often explore themes of trauma, addiction, family dysfunction, and the search for identity.

Elliott's notable works include the memoirs Looking Forward to Being Attacked (2001) and The Adderall Diaries (2009), the novel Happy Baby (2004), and the essay collection Sometimes I Think About It (2018). He has also written for various publications, including The Believer, Salon, and The New York Times.

In addition to his writing, Elliott directed the film adaptation of The Adderall Diaries (2015), starring James Franco and Amber Heard.

Elliott's work is often characterized by its confessional tone and unflinching honesty. He has been praised for his willingness to confront difficult and personal subjects, but also criticized for his sometimes controversial views and personal conduct.
