Ken Coates (historian)

Ken Coates is a Canadian historian specializing in northern studies, Indigenous history, and post-secondary education. He is a prolific author and commentator, known for his work on the history and contemporary issues facing Canada's North.

Coates holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of British Columbia. He has held numerous academic positions, including professorships at the University of Northern British Columbia, the University of Saskatchewan, and the University of Waterloo. He has also served in administrative roles, including Dean of Arts at the University of Saskatchewan and Canada Research Chair in Regional Innovation at the University of Saskatchewan.
