The Lodger (band)

The Lodger were a British indie pop band formed in Leeds, England, in 2002. They were primarily known for their melodic songwriting, witty lyrics, and 1980s-influenced sound, drawing comparisons to bands like The Smiths and Orange Juice.

The band's core members were Henry Raby (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Bruce Cowie (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Amy Spencer (bass guitar), and Neil Wells (drums). Their music often featured themes of social awkwardness, failed relationships, and the mundane aspects of everyday life, all delivered with a distinctive British sensibility.

The Lodger released several singles and EPs, building a loyal following before releasing their debut album, Grown Ups, in 2006. The album received critical acclaim for its sharp songwriting and catchy tunes. They followed up with their second and final album, Life Is Sweet, in 2008.

Despite critical praise, The Lodger never achieved mainstream commercial success. They disbanded in 2009. After the band's breakup, members pursued various other musical projects.
