Norwood (film)

Norwood is a 1970 American comedy film directed by Jack Haley Jr. It is based on the 1966 novel of the same name by Charles Portis, who also wrote the novel True Grit.

The film stars Glen Campbell in the title role as Norwood Pratt, a Vietnam War veteran and aspiring country singer from Ralph, Arkansas. After being swindled out of his bus fare by a con artist, Norwood embarks on a cross-country journey to New York City to collect $70 promised to him for some hogs.

Along the way, Norwood encounters a colorful cast of characters, including Yvonne (Kim Darby), a pregnant, unwed teenager; Grady Fring (Joe Namath), a football player turned motorcycle enthusiast; Marie (Carol Lynley), a showgirl; and Edmund Bocker (Pat Hingle), a dog enthusiast and con artist. The film follows Norwood's misadventures as he tries to navigate the unfamiliar world and achieve his goals.

The film features several musical performances by Glen Campbell, as well as songs by other artists. It received mixed reviews upon its release but has since become a cult classic, appreciated for its quirky humor and the performances of its cast.
