Kaz (TV series)
Kaz was an American legal drama television series that aired on CBS during the 1978-1979 season. Created by Jerome Kass, the series starred Ron Leibman as Martin "Kaz" Kazinsky, a former convict turned criminal defense attorney.
Kazinsky had served time in prison himself for robbery, giving him a unique perspective and empathy for his clients, many of whom were marginalized or unfairly accused. The show focused on his struggles to navigate the legal system, fight for justice, and overcome the prejudices against him due to his past.
The series aimed to explore the complexities of the legal system and the challenges faced by both the accused and the defenders. Kaz was depicted as a passionate and unconventional lawyer who often bent the rules to achieve what he believed was a just outcome.
Despite receiving critical acclaim for Leibman's performance and its socially conscious themes, Kaz struggled in the ratings and was canceled after one season of 22 episodes. The show's demise has been attributed to its challenging subject matter and its placement in a difficult time slot.
