Kahnuwan

Kahnuwan is a historical community located in the Philippines, specifically in the province of Eastern Samar. It is situated on the island of Homonhon. Kahnuwan is significant for being the site of the first recorded landing of Europeans in the Philippines. On March 16, 1521, Ferdinand Magellan and his crew landed on Homonhon and are believed to have spent time in the area now known as Kahnuwan, where they replenished their supplies and rested before continuing their exploration of the archipelago. The exact location of the landing is often debated, but Kahnuwan is widely recognized as the primary candidate. The arrival of Magellan marked the beginning of Spanish colonization in the Philippines, making Kahnuwan a place of historical importance in the country's history.
