Junius (band)

Junius is an American post-metal band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 2003. The band is known for its blend of heavy metal, post-hardcore, and atmospheric rock, often incorporating elements of shoegaze and progressive rock. Their music is frequently characterized by soaring vocals, melodic guitar lines, and a dense, layered sound.

Junius's lyrical themes often explore mythology, philosophy, science fiction, and personal introspection. The band has cited influences ranging from Neurosis and Isis to Deftones and The Cure.

History:

Junius was formed by vocalist and guitarist Joseph E. Martinez. Over the years, the band has seen various lineup changes, but Martinez has remained a constant member and primary songwriter.

The band released several EPs and demos before signing with Prosthetic Records in 2009. They released their debut full-length album, The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist, on Prosthetic Records in 2009.

Junius released their second full-length album, Reports from the Threshold of Death, in 2011, also on Prosthetic Records. The album further solidified their reputation for blending heavy and atmospheric elements.

In 2014, Junius released their third full-length album, Days of the Fallen Sun, on Transcending Records. This album saw the band further refine their sound and explore more expansive sonic textures.

Since then, Junius has continued to tour and release music, maintaining a dedicated following within the post-metal and alternative music scenes.
