Joseph Sutton (college president)

Joseph Sutton is an American academic administrator and former president of California State University, East Bay (CSUEB). He served as president from January 2006 until June 2011.

Sutton's tenure at CSUEB was marked by efforts to increase the university's visibility and expand its academic programs. He oversaw the development and implementation of a strategic plan aimed at enhancing student success and strengthening the university's role in the region. He also spearheaded fundraising initiatives to support scholarships and campus improvements.

Prior to his presidency at CSUEB, Sutton held various administrative positions at other universities, including serving as vice president for student affairs at San Francisco State University. He has also been involved in research and scholarship related to higher education policy and administration.

Since leaving the presidency at CSUEB, Sutton has continued to be active in higher education consulting and advisory roles.
