Jon Mitchell (politician)

Jon Mitchell is an American politician serving as the Mayor of New Bedford, Massachusetts since 2012. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as a federal prosecutor for the United States Department of Justice.

Mitchell graduated from Harvard University and Georgetown University Law Center. Before entering politics, he worked as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, prosecuting violent crimes and narcotics offenses.

As Mayor of New Bedford, Mitchell has focused on economic development, waterfront revitalization, and improving the city's financial stability. He has also worked on addressing issues such as crime and homelessness. Mitchell has been re-elected multiple times and is currently serving his fifth term.
