Johnny Williams (footballer, born 1947)

Johnny Williams (born January 28, 1947) is a Welsh former professional footballer. He played primarily as a defender.

Williams began his career with Wrexham, making his debut in the Football League in 1964. He quickly established himself as a regular in the team and played a key role in their Third Division promotion campaign in the 1969–70 season.

In 1972, Williams transferred to Swansea City for a reported fee of £15,000. He became an integral part of the Swansea team managed by John Toshack, experiencing significant success during the club's rise through the divisions. He helped Swansea achieve promotion from the Fourth Division in 1977–78 and then from the Third Division the following season. He was a key player in the team that reached the First Division in 1981.

Williams left Swansea City in 1982 and subsequently joined Newport County. He later played for non-league Oswestry Town before retiring from professional football.

After his playing career, Williams remained involved in football, undertaking coaching roles at youth and amateur levels.
