John Trimble (politician)

John Trimble (born c. 1772, died August 25, 1854) was a United States Representative from Tennessee.

Born in Virginia, Trimble moved to the Cumberland region of Tennessee (then part of North Carolina) around 1780 with his family. He engaged in agricultural pursuits and studied law. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Gallatin, Tennessee.

Trimble served as a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives. He was elected as a Jackson Republican to the Fifteenth Congress, serving from March 4, 1817, to March 3, 1819. During his term, he was involved in debates over internal improvements and the admission of Illinois to the Union.

Following his congressional service, Trimble resumed his law practice in Gallatin. He also served as a judge in Tennessee, although the specific court is not consistently documented. He died near Gallatin in Sumner County, Tennessee, on August 25, 1854, and was interred in the family cemetery on his plantation.
