John Thornton (American football)

John Thornton (born July 16, 1976) is a former American football defensive tackle. He played college football at West Virginia University and was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the second round of the 1999 NFL Draft.

Early Life and College Career:

Thornton attended West Virginia University, where he was a standout defensive lineman for the Mountaineers. He earned All-Big East honors and was considered one of the top defensive prospects in the country leading up to the NFL Draft.

Professional Career:

Thornton played in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons, primarily with the Tennessee Titans. He was known for his size, strength, and ability to disrupt opposing offenses.

• Tennessee Titans (1999-2005): Thornton spent the majority of his career with the Titans, where he was a key member of their defensive line. He contributed consistently in run defense and pass rushing situations. He was part of the Titans team that reached Super Bowl XXXIV.
