Rometsch
Rometsch was a German coachbuilding company based in Berlin, Germany, active from the late 1940s to the early 1960s. Founded by Friedrich Rometsch, the company specialized in creating custom bodies for Volkswagen Beetles, as well as other vehicles.
Rometsch became particularly known for its Beetle-based designs, offering a range of models including coupes, convertibles, and even a four-door sedan modification. These vehicles were distinguished by their often flamboyant and distinctive styling, frequently incorporating features not found on standard Beetles, such as modified headlights, extended rear fins, and luxurious interiors.
The most famous Rometsch model was likely the "Beeskow," named after Rometsch's hometown. The Beeskow coupe and convertible offered a more streamlined and elegant alternative to the standard Beetle.
While Rometsch produced a relatively small number of vehicles, they are now highly sought after by collectors due to their rarity and unique designs. The company ceased production in the early 1960s, but its legacy as a significant coachbuilder of customized Volkswagens remains.
