John McLean (New Zealand politician)

John McLean (1828 – 21 June 1890) was a 19th-century New Zealand politician.

McLean was born in Kilmoluaig, Tiree, Argyll, Scotland in 1828. He emigrated to Otago, New Zealand.

He represented the Waikouaiti electorate from 1881 to 1884, and the Waitaki electorate from 1884 to 1887. He was a member of the Legislative Council from 1887 until his death in 1890. He was known for his advocacy of land reform and closer settlement. He died in Oamaru.
