Danville National Cemetery (Kentucky)

Danville National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located in Danville, Boyle County, Kentucky. Encompassing 45.8 acres (18.5 ha), it serves as a burial ground for veterans of the United States Armed Forces, as well as their spouses and eligible dependents. It is administered by the National Cemetery Administration, an agency of the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The cemetery was established in 1862 to inter Union soldiers who died in area hospitals during the Civil War. The need arose from the concentration of military hospitals in Danville, treating soldiers wounded in battles throughout Kentucky and surrounding states. Many of the earliest interments were reinterments from nearby battlefield sites and temporary burial grounds.

The cemetery features a historic entrance gate and a rostrum used for ceremonies and memorial services. A notable monument within the cemetery is the Civil War Soldiers Monument, dedicated to the Union soldiers buried there.

Danville National Cemetery is generally open to the public during daylight hours. Records of interments are maintained by the National Cemetery Administration and are often accessible online.
