Jim Thorpe (Australian footballer)
Jim Thorpe (born 3 December 1948) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood and North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL).
Thorpe, a utility player known for his strong marking and kicking, debuted for Collingwood in 1969. He played 81 games for the Magpies over six seasons, primarily playing in the forward line. He was a consistent goalkicker for Collingwood, often among their leading goalkickers for the season.
In 1975, Thorpe transferred to North Melbourne, where he played 14 games. His time at North Melbourne was shorter but contributed to their premiership aspirations, though he did not play in their premiership-winning side that year.
Following his VFL career, Thorpe continued playing football at a local level. He is remembered as a solid and reliable player who gave many years of service to Collingwood and North Melbourne.
