Jim Murphy (boxer)

Jim Murphy (born c. 1897, died 1973) was an American boxer who competed professionally from approximately 1915 to 1925. Primarily a middleweight, Murphy fought many notable opponents of his era. While details of his exact record are incomplete, he is known to have faced fighters such as Mike O'Dowd, Billy Miske, and Harry Greb. Newspaper reports of the time suggest a reputation as a tough and durable competitor. Later in life, Murphy became a respected boxing referee.
