Jim Goetz

Jim Goetz is an American venture capitalist and managing director at Sequoia Capital. He is best known for leading Sequoia's investment in WhatsApp, which was acquired by Facebook in 2014.

Goetz joined Sequoia Capital in 2004. Prior to Sequoia, he held positions at Accel Partners and McKinsey & Company. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University.

Goetz has been recognized on Forbes' Midas List, which ranks the top technology investors. In addition to WhatsApp, he has invested in companies such as Palo Alto Networks, Jive Software, and Barracuda Networks. He is known for his focus on infrastructure and security software companies. He serves on the boards of several private companies.
